So I got a good dose of lockdown emotion this morning!
I watched a presentation about the Future of the Arts Sector by the Arts Collaboration Network made to the Committee for Communities here in Northern Ireland. It took place yesterday and you can watch it on the link in from 57 minutes in.
Apart from the obvious economic impact and survival of artists, freelancers and venues everywhere it highlights some of the little things too that I hadn't thought of - like the fact that schoolkids won't get to go and see a Christmas Show this year. 😢
Of course, Governments everywhere need to act (and that means cold hard cash) but we all need to help if we want to ensure the survival of this already precarious sector.
As Joni sings:
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone .....
No one wants this to happen.
As always we need joined up thinking and for everyone to think about what they can do individually but of particular interest to me what can businesses do? Plus how can I help do that?
I would love to hear your ideas and thoughts – please email me if you have any - firstname.lastname@example.org
